Why choose the Ashley Freedan Lift-Top Coffee Table T175-9?
The Ashley Freedan T175-9 combines a relatively narrow 19.5-inch-deep footprint with several functions in one piece: a spring-loaded lift top, hidden storage beneath the lid and a fixed lower shelf. Raising the top brings the surface to 27.38 inches high and extends it toward the sofa, creating a more convenient surface for occasional laptop work, meals, games or other seated activities. The hidden compartment keeps everyday items out of sight, while the lower shelf adds open storage or display space. Gray replicated wood grain and metal crossbuck accents give the table a modern farmhouse look without increasing its compact footprint.

Is the Ashley Freedan T175-9 a good lift-top coffee table for an apartment or small living room?

Yes. The Freedan measures 43.25" wide × just 19.5" deep when closed, making it a strong option for apartments and narrower living rooms where front-to-back floor space is limited. Its multifunctional design can also reduce the need for separate pieces: the lift top provides a raised surface for occasional work or meals, the compartment under the lid provides concealed storage, and the lower shelf adds another usable storage or display area. Leave additional space in front of the sofa for the top to extend to a total depth of 28.75 inches when raised.

Can the Freedan T175-9 be used for working or eating from the sofa?

Yes, for occasional sofa-based use. The spring-loaded mechanism raises the tabletop from 19 inches to 27.38 inches high and brings the surface closer to the seated user. That makes it more practical than a fixed-height coffee table for a laptop, a meal, paperwork or games. The exact comfort will depend on your sofa seat height, seat depth and how closely the table is positioned, so the lifted dimensions are worth comparing with your seating before purchase.

What storage does the Ashley Freedan T175-9 provide?

The Freedan provides hidden storage beneath the lift top plus a fixed lower shelf. The main interior opening measures 37.63" W × 17" D × 9.75" H, giving you concealed space for items such as remotes, chargers, books, notebooks or other living-room essentials. Two smaller side openings measure 6.63" W × 15.38" D × 3.63" H each. The lower shelf keeps frequently used or decorative items accessible without occupying the tabletop.
