Why choose the Ashley Top Tier 3-Piece Manual Reclining Modular Sofa 92705S8?
The Ashley Top Tier 92705S8 is a wide, straight three-piece modular sofa designed for shoppers who want reclining at both ends without an L-shaped sectional footprint. A left-arm-facing manual recliner, stationary armless center chair and right-arm-facing manual recliner join to create a 128-inch seating run, so the two outside occupants can put their feet up while the center position stays upright. Pull-tab controls keep the reclining function mechanical rather than powered, and the 23-inch seat depth gives the sofa a more relaxed sitting profile than shallower everyday seating. Chocolate polyester upholstery has a pronounced corduroy-style texture, while attached cushions and included accent pillows give the long silhouette a softer, more casual appearance. The Top Tier is also offered in Alloy (92706S8), giving you a much lighter color alternative to Chocolate.

How much wall and floor space does the Ashley Top Tier 92705S8 need?
The Top Tier needs a long wall: at 128 inches wide, the completed sofa spans about 10 feet 8 inches before allowing for end tables or side clearance. Upright depth is 40 inches, while a fully reclined end reaches 66 inches, adding about 26 inches to the front-to-back footprint. Ashley lists 7 inches of rear clearance, so plan for about 73 inches—roughly 6 feet 1 inch—from the wall to the front edge of an open recliner. If a main walkway also runs in front, another 30–36 inches of clear passage brings the planning depth to roughly 103–109 inches. Those walkway figures are room-planning guidance rather than Ashley specifications. For a piece this wide,
the amount of wall and floor space devoted to the sofa
matters just as much as the number of seats.
Which seats recline on the Top Tier 3-Piece Modular Sofa 92705S8?
The left and right end pieces recline manually, while the armless center chair remains stationary. That gives the Top Tier three seating positions but only two reclining positions, which can work well when different people want different ways to sit. Because the three pieces form one straight run rather than an L, the layout behaves more like an oversized modular sofa than a corner sectional. That distinction is useful when comparing
modular seating with a traditional sectional layout,
especially when the room has one long uninterrupted wall but limited depth on the return.
What do the 23-inch seat depth and corduroy-style upholstery mean for everyday use?
The 23-inch seat depth gives the Top Tier more room to lean back than a shallower 20- or 21-inch seat, while the 20-inch seat height keeps the upright position relatively conventional. The Chocolate polyester upholstery uses a pronounced corded texture that adds visual depth and a soft, casual appearance across a very wide sofa. Attached cushions stay in position rather than being removed or flipped, and the included accent pillows add extra softness along the long seating run.
