Could the Ashley First Base 6880425 work for some older adults?

The First Base may work for some mobile older adults because its 20-inch seat height avoids an especially low sitting position, while the 21-inch seat depth is moderate enough for some users to sit back without feeling excessively deep. However, the pull-tab reclining mechanism is fully manual, so the user must supply the effort needed to open and close the footrest. This is not a lift chair and does not raise the user toward a standing position. Seat height, seat depth, arm support and ease of operation are important when considering chair features that support easier sitting and standing .

How comfortable is the Ashley First Base 6880425 for everyday lounging?

The First Base uses attached cushions with high-quality foam wrapped in poly fiber, paired with faux leather upholstery and a 21-inch seat depth. Those proportions and cushioning are useful to compare when evaluating seat comfort and fit rather than judging comfort from upholstery feel alone.

How much space does the Ashley First Base 6880425 need to recline?

The First Base measures 37 inches wide and extends to about 67 inches when fully reclined. It needs approximately 12 inches of clearance behind the chair, so buyers should plan for both the forward reclining footprint and adequate wall space.

VBU Fit & Function Analysis

Older-adult considerations: Selective fit
The 20" seat height and 21" seat depth are moderate, but the pull-tab reclining mechanism requires user effort. It is not a lift chair and does not raise the user toward a standing position.

What to measure before buying
Plan for the 37" width, 67" fully reclined length, 12" wall clearance and a minimum 32" doorway along the delivery path.
