Why choose the Ashley Darcy Black Sofa 7500838?
The Ashley Darcy Black 7500838 pairs a curving, generously cushioned silhouette with practical everyday proportions. Flared sides and pillow-top armrests give the sofa its distinctive plush appearance, while soft polyester upholstery and foam cushions wrapped in poly fiber keep the overall look relaxed and inviting. Although the sofa measures 87 inches from side to side, the space between the arms is 62 inches, an important distinction when comparing exterior size with actual seating width. A 21.5-inch seat height and 22-inch seat depth offer familiar dimensions for everyday sitting and relaxing, while loose seat cushions can be repositioned as needed to keep the seating area aligned. The Darcy is also available in Cobblestone (7500538), giving you a lighter neutral alternative to Black.

How much wall and floor space does the Ashley Darcy Sofa 7500838 need?

Because the Darcy is 87 inches wide, you need at least 87 inches of clear wall width for the sofa itself. For visual proportion, a sofa often works well at roughly 60–75% of the usable wall, placing the Darcy on a wall of about 116–145 inches. A wall near 130–131 inches, or about 10 feet 10 inches, puts the sofa close to the two-thirds guideline. These are design-planning targets rather than Ashley requirements. If a coffee table will sit in front, allowing roughly 14–18 inches between the sofa and table helps preserve comfortable reach and movement. Our sofa size and wall-proportion guide explains how these dimensions work together in a living room. The Darcy also lists a 32-inch minimum doorway width for delivery.

How do the Darcy's 21.5-inch seat height and 22-inch seat depth affect sitting comfort?

The Darcy's 22-inch seat depth provides room to settle back without moving into the extra-deep proportions of a dedicated lounging sofa. Its 21.5-inch seat height is slightly taller than many lower-profile sofas and is worth comparing with seating you already find comfortable. The rounded pillow-top arms add a cushioned place to lean against, while personal comfort will still depend on body height, leg length and preferred posture. Our sofa seat-depth guide explains how seat depth changes the relationship between upright sitting and more relaxed lounging.

What makes the Darcy Black sofa different from a straight-arm sofa?

The Darcy uses wide flared sides with thick pillow-top arm cushions instead of narrow, straight track arms. That gives it a softer, more rounded appearance and creates cushioned surfaces for leaning or resting an arm. The tradeoff is that some of the sofa's 87-inch overall width is devoted to the arms: the usable space between them measures 62 inches. Loose seat cushions and attached back and armrest cushions complete the more relaxed design, and the loose seats may occasionally benefit from repositioning to keep them neatly aligned.
