Why choose the Ashley Midnight-Madness Onyx Sectional 98103S2?
Bold texture and generous lounging space define the Ashley Midnight-Madness 98103S2. Its jumbo corduroy upholstery adds pronounced vertical ribbing to the Onyx finish, while the right-arm-facing chaise creates a dedicated place to stretch out without occupying a separate chair. Across its 120-inch width, the sectional needs 10 feet of wall space before allowing for surrounding furniture and walkways. The 65-inch depth makes chaise placement particularly important in narrower living rooms. For everyday use, reversible seat cushions offer an opportunity to redistribute wear, while attached back cushions help maintain a consistent arrangement. High-resiliency foam wrapped in polyester fiber provides the seat construction, supported by a reinforced frame and a platform foundation designed to resist sagging. Included accent pillows introduce additional texture without requiring separate decorative accessories. With a 22-inch seat height and 27-inch arms, Midnight-Madness also provides concrete measurements for comparing the seating position with an existing sofa. The collection offers three colors—Onyx, Chocolate and Gunmetal—with both left-arm-facing and right-arm-facing chaise configurations. This lets shoppers choose a finish and layout that better suit their room, although dimensions and specifications should be checked for the selected variant.
What does right-arm-facing mean on the Ashley Midnight-Madness 98103S2, and where should the chaise go?
When you stand in front of the Ashley Midnight-Madness 98103S2 and face the seating, the chaise extends on your right. Its two-piece configuration combines a left-arm-facing sofa with a right-arm-facing corner chaise. This is especially important when positioning the sectional near a doorway, hallway or television wall: the chaise should occupy the side where its extension will not interrupt the room's main walking route. Because this configuration is specifically right-arm-facing, the two pieces should not be assumed to convert into a left-facing arrangement. The distinction between dedicated chaise lounging and conventional sectional seating layouts can help determine whether this fixed arrangement suits how your household uses the living room.
How much living room space should I allow for the 120-inch Midnight-Madness sectional?
With a 120-inch overall width, the Midnight-Madness 98103S2 needs 10 feet of horizontal space, while its 65-inch depth determines how far the chaise extends into the room. If the chaise borders a primary walkway, allowing approximately 30–36 inches beyond its outer edge means planning for roughly 95–101 inches of room depth from the sectional's back to the opposite obstruction. Where a coffee table sits in front of the regular seats, approximately 14–18 inches of reach space is a useful starting point. These calculations follow the principle that sectional fit depends on circulation and chaise projection, not wall length alone. For delivery, Ashley specifies a minimum doorway width of 36 inches; also verify hallway turns, stairs and individual component dimensions.
Is the Midnight-Madness Onyx corduroy sectional practical for everyday lounging, and how do the cushions hold up?
The Midnight-Madness sectional pairs jumbo corduroy polyester upholstery with reversible seat cushions and attached back cushions. Its pronounced ribbed texture creates a soft-looking, casual seating surface, though the Onyx fabric may show lint, dust or directional shading depending on lighting and use. Reversible seat cushions can be flipped periodically to help distribute everyday wear, while attached back cushions stay in their designated positions and are not intended to be reversed. Beneath the seats, high-resiliency foam wrapped in polyester fiber works with a platform foundation to provide support. Ashley reports that its platform system resisted sagging three times better than a spring system after 20,000 testing cycles; this is a manufacturer test comparison, not a guarantee of lifespan. Understanding how cushion construction and repeated compression influence long-term seating comfort is useful when choosing a sectional for frequent family use.
