Why choose the Ashley Sleep Chime 12-Inch Hybrid Queen Mattress M69731?
The Ashley Chime M69731 combines soft surface cushioning with the support of individually wrapped coils, offering an alternative to both traditional spring mattresses and all-foam designs. Its 1.5-inch super-soft quilt foam and additional comfort foam create a cushioned surface, while 0.75-inch gel memory foam adds contouring in the lumbar area. Ashley classifies the mattress as ultra plush, although individual sleepers may perceive its firmness differently. Beneath the foam, wrapped coils help reduce partner-motion transfer, and reinforced perimeter coils provide additional support near the edges. The 12-inch thickness also makes finished bed height easier to manage than with taller 15–16-inch models. Adjustable-base compatibility adds flexibility when choosing a foundation. Chime is also available in Twin, Full, King and California King sizes; confirm the size-specific SKU before ordering.

Is the Ashley Chime M69731 Queen mattress soft enough for side sleepers, and is Queen large enough for two?
Ashley rates the Chime M69731 as ultra plush, with 1.5 inches of soft quilt foam above additional comfort foam and gel memory foam. These layers provide cushioning that may appeal to side sleepers who prefer a softer surface, although some customers describe a firmer feel than expected. The wrapped coils underneath provide support, so comfort depends on body weight and personal preference. At 60 inches wide, a Queen mattress gives two people approximately 30 inches of width each. Couples deciding between
Queen and King mattress sizes for shared sleeping space
should consider whether the Queen's smaller footprint or the King's additional personal space matters more.
How does the Ashley Chime 12-Inch Hybrid M69731 reduce partner movement and support the mattress edges?
The Chime M69731 combines individually wrapped coils with two reinforced perimeter rows of 13-gauge pocketed coils. The interior coils respond independently to help limit movement traveling across the mattress when a partner changes position, while the heavier perimeter coils provide additional support when sitting or sleeping near the edges. These features serve different purposes and cannot guarantee motion-free sleep or prevent all edge compression. Since
partner movement can travel through both the mattress and its supporting bed frame,
a stable foundation is also important for couples.
Can the Ashley Chime M69731 be used on an adjustable bed, and how high will the 12-inch mattress sit?
Yes. Ashley lists the Chime M69731 as adjustable-base compatible. Its 12-inch thickness means a support surface 12 inches above the floor would create an approximate mattress-top height of 24 inches before compression. This is three inches lower than a 15-inch mattress on the same base. Because
the combined mattress and foundation height affects everyday bed access,
measuring your existing support surface helps determine the finished height. Confirm that your selected foundation meets Ashley's warranty requirements; the foundation or box spring is sold separately. Chime arrives compressed in a box and should be allowed up to 48 hours to expand fully after opening.
