Why choose the Ashley Sleep Chime 12-Inch Memory Foam Queen Mattress M72731?
The Ashley Chime M72731 offers a coil-free sleeping surface that combines body-contouring memory foam with a substantial firm support base. Its thick memory foam layer adapts to body shape, while the firmer foam underneath provides resistance against excessive sinkage. Unlike the Chime Hybrid models, this mattress has no metal spring system, making it appealing to sleepers who prefer the less bouncy feel of all-foam construction. The foam layers also help absorb movement, a practical benefit for couples sharing a Queen bed. Although Ashley rates the mattress ultra plush, its firm support base can make the overall feel more substantial than some shoppers expect. At 12 inches thick, it balances cushioning with a manageable bed height. Also offered in Twin, Full, King and California King sizes; confirm the size-specific SKU before ordering.

Is the Ashley Chime M72731 really ultra plush, or does its firm foam base make it feel harder?
Ashley classifies the Chime M72731 as ultra plush, but its thick memory foam comfort layer rests on an extra-thick firm support foam base. The upper foam contours to the body, while the base provides more resistance as weight presses deeper into the mattress. This helps explain why some buyers appreciate its substantial support while others find it firmer than the ultra-plush designation suggests. The difference between
surface softness and the firmness of the underlying mattress support
is particularly important when choosing this model. Side sleepers seeking deep cushioning should consider their personal preferences rather than relying on the comfort label alone.
Does the Ashley Chime 12-Inch Memory Foam Queen mattress reduce partner movement better than a hybrid?
The Chime M72731 uses memory foam and firm support foam without interconnected springs, allowing the materials to absorb some movement when one person turns or gets out of bed. This can be useful for couples who dislike the bouncy sensation associated with certain innerspring mattresses. However, a well-designed hybrid with individually wrapped coils can also limit motion transfer, so the all-foam construction does not automatically guarantee better isolation. Since
partner movement can travel through the mattress and its supporting bed frame,
foundation stability matters regardless of mattress type. Actual motion isolation depends on the complete bed setup.
How high will the 12-inch Ashley Chime M72731 sit, and what should I prepare before delivery?
The Ashley Chime M72731 measures 12 inches thick, so its finished mattress-top height depends on the support surface beneath it. For example, a foundation positioned 12 inches above the floor produces an estimated mattress-top height of 24 inches before compression. This is three inches lower than a 15-inch mattress on the same base. The relationship between
mattress thickness, foundation height and comfortable bed access
helps when selecting a frame and fitted sheets. The mattress ships compressed in a box and requires up to 48 hours to expand fully after opening. A foundation or box spring is sold separately; confirm suitable support and warranty requirements before setup. Adjustable-base compatibility has not been verified for this model.
