Why choose the Ashley Sleep Chime 8-Inch Innerspring Queen Mattress M69531?
The Ashley Chime M69531 provides a traditional firm mattress feel for shoppers who prefer spring-based support over the contouring sensation of memory foam. Its 13-gauge Bonnell coil unit creates a connected support system, while 2 inches of high-density quilt foam add cushioning between the sleeper and springs. Because the mattress is rated firm, it may appeal to those who favor a more resistant surface, although sleepers seeking generous plush cushioning may prefer a thicker comfort-layer design. The 8-inch profile helps keep overall bed height manageable, especially when paired with an existing foundation. Compared with Chime's memory foam and wrapped-coil hybrid versions, M69531 offers a more traditional innerspring construction. Also available in Twin, Full and King sizes; confirm the size-specific SKU before ordering.

How firm is the Ashley Chime 8-Inch Innerspring M69531, and can you feel its coils?
Ashley rates the Chime M69531 as firm, with 2 inches of high-density quilt foam cushioning a 13-gauge Bonnell coil unit. The quilted surface softens direct contact, while the connected springs provide traditional, relatively resistant support. Some customer feedback about this mattress family praises its firmness, while other buyers report noticing the springs or wanting additional cushioning. Individual experiences vary with body weight and sleeping position. For shoppers comparing comfort levels, the difference between a firm support system and a generously cushioned sleeping surface helps explain why this model may feel less plush than thicker foam or hybrid mattresses.
What makes the Chime M69531 Bonnell innerspring different from a wrapped-coil hybrid mattress?
The Ashley Chime M69531 uses traditional interconnected Bonnell coils rather than individually wrapped pocket coils. Connected springs respond together to weight and movement, giving the mattress a familiar innerspring feel but potentially transferring more motion between sleeping partners. Wrapped-coil hybrids generally allow individual springs to respond more independently. This distinction matters for couples because movement travels differently through interconnected springs, independent coils and the bed frame. The Chime's construction may suit shoppers who prefer traditional spring responsiveness, but it should not be mistaken for a motion-isolating pocket-coil hybrid.
Does the Ashley Chime M69531 need a box spring, and how high will the finished Queen bed be?
The Chime M69531 is 8 inches thick, so its finished sleeping height depends on the bed frame and foundation beneath it. For example, a support surface 12 inches above the floor produces an approximate mattress-top height of 20 inches before compression. This is four inches lower than a 12-inch mattress placed on the same support. A foundation or box spring is available separately, and whether one is required depends on the bed frame and Ashley's warranty terms. With traditional innerspring construction, choosing between compatible platform support and a separate box spring also affects bed height and stability. The mattress arrives compressed in a box; allow up to 48 hours for expansion after opening, recognizing that actual expansion can vary.
